RAPID CITY, S.D. - Three Dickinson High gymnasts placed in the top four of the all-around Saturday at the Rapid City Gym-O-Rama, and the Midgets placed first as a team, coming out ahead of the five South Dakota schools in attendance.
Dickinson scored 147.400 team points, its second-highest point total of the season, and Rapid City Stevens placed second with 143.800 points.
Stevens freshman Shay Trimble placed first in the all-around with 38.250 points, but Dickinson senior Acacia Fossum, senior Keana Kudrna and eighth-grader Ayanna Fossum occupied Nos. 2-4.
Kudrna’s day was highlighted by a 9.900 on the vault, and Acacia came away with a 9.925 on the balance beam.
“That’s a career high for her on any event,” Dickinson head coach Kent Van Ells said of Acacia’s beam performance. “She just nailed that thing, and the judges came up with that score. Almost flawless. And Keana got another 9.900 on the vault. Those two were just super for us.”
Ayanna turned in a day that Van Ells described as the “best meet she’s had all year.” She placed fourth on the uneven bars, third on the beam, third on the vault and tied for first on the floor with Kudrna and Trimble with 9.575 points.
Dickinson freshman Dacia Rambousek took fifth on the beam and seventh on the bars, while classmate Meghan Ackerman placed eighth on the bars. Eighth-grader Brinklyn Schumacher also placed eighth on the vault.
