Dickinson High Midgets gymnastics wins at Bismarck Century

BISMARCK - Dickinson High had three gymnasts place in the top six of the all-around Friday at the Julie Ziegler Memorial tournament at Bismarck Century High School.
Dickinson, as a team, placed first with 144.575 points, one spot ahead of Minot, which had 140.225 points.
Dickinson senior Acacia Fossum placed first in the all-around with 37.675 points, and classmate Keana Kudrna finished in third with 37.175 points. Eighth-grader Ayanna Fossum was sixth with 35.225 points.
The elder Fossum sister took first on the uneven bars and second on the balance beam, while Ayanna Fossum placed ahead of the pack in her floor routine with 9.575 points. Kudrna had a strong showing with first place on the vault (9.55 points), second on the bars (9.525) and third on the floor (9.425).
“Overall we did better in vault in particular,” head coach Kent Van Ells said. “So that made a big difference. That’s where we started, and we started well. Scoring wasn’t that high, but we had a better meet.”
