The Dickinson High swimming and diving team placed sixth at the West Region meet Saturday in Williston.
In the eight-team field, Bismarck Century took home the team title with 484 points. The Midgets had 186.5 points.
Dickinson High freshman Hannah Rathgeber qualified for the state championships in the 100-meter butterfly with her eighth-place finish in 1 minute, 7.82 seconds.
Freshman Brianna Ashworth was named to the all-region team, and she placed fifth in the 200 individual medley (2:20.76) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.58). Senior Leah Grove placed eighth in the 100 backstroke (1:07.63) and eighth in the 100 freestyle (57.42). She was also a finalist for Senior Athlete of the Year.
The quartet of Grove, Kara Wanner, Ashworth and Katie Jankowski placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:57.52).
Jankowski placed eighth in the 50 freestyle (26.42). Korie Riely took ninth in the 200 freestyle (2:09.18) and eighth in the 500 freestyle (5:42.84).
Dickinson High head coach Jenna Wolf was named the West Region’s coach of the year.
The Midgets return to the pool on Friday in Bismarck for the state championships.
