Dickinson High volleyball sweeps St. Mary's

BISMARCK -- The Dickinson High volleyball team earned its fourth West Region win of the season on Tuesday with a sweep of Bismarck St. Mary's by set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 25-18.

BISMARCK - The Dickinson High volleyball team earned its fourth West Region win of the season on Tuesday with a sweep of Bismarck St. Mary's by set scores of 25-17, 25-12, 25-18.

Dickinson High junior middle hitter Mariah Mortensen recorded five kills and six blocks in the match, helping lead the Midgets on both sides of the net.

Fellow juniors Lexi Jordheim and Morgan Kainz tied for the team lead with six kills each. Jordheim added nine digs, and Kainz had a pair of blocks.

Senior libero Sarah Dobitz collected 14 digs with two service acies, and fellow senior defensive specialist Aspen Galster had two aces and nine digs.

Sophomore setter Lauren Jorda tallied 21 assists.

The Midgets improved to 6-13 overall with a 4-5 mark in the region. The Saints dropped to 5-17 overall and 2-9 in the region. Dickinson returns home to face Williston next at 6 p.m. Friday at DHS gymnasium.
