MINOT -- The Dickinson High softball team were shut down in the first game, but split with its West Region opponent.
The Midgets dropped the first game 3-2 and won the second 15-4 against Minot on Saturday.
"We came back in the second game and got the bats going," Dickinson head coach Bill Butterfield said. "We had 21 hits and 15 runs and we kind of came back with vengeance."
In the second game, Dickinson got the bats going and in the words of Butterfield everything else just seems to fall into place.
"We're hoping that were headed in the right direction for WDA," Butterfield said. "We've got four more games to go."

The Midgets had 21 hits and catcher Lexi Yates went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs. Rachel Jahner was gained some frequent flyer miles going 4-for-5 and scoring four runs.
Kelsey Lafond and Madison Jahner combined for the win throwing seven innings, allowing four runs and striking out six. The loss was charged to Lexi Benno.
During the first game, Haley Butterfield limited Minot to three runs on six hits. Bill Butterfield said the team just made a couple key mental mistakes in the later innings.
Jessica Priebe led the Midgets with a triple and a run scored, while Rachel Jahner added a hit and a run. Lafond, Haley Butterfield and Yates each chipped in a hit.
Katie Clark led the bats for the Majettes going 2-for-3 with two runs, followed by Jessie Kongelf with a double and a run.
The Midgets host Minot Ryan at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday for a matchup of two of the three top teams in the West Region.
