MINOT -- The Dickinson High softball team started the day on a nine-game tear.

Dickinson didn't slow down, traveling up to Minot and extending its win streak to 11.

The Midgets used strong hitting performances from Riana Cooper, Briana Farnsworth and Mackee Hoffmann to take a 4-0, 16-5 sweep over Minot on Saturday.

"Riana really came through in the clutch," Dickinson head coach Bill Butterfield said. "One of exciting things about this year is that the clutch hits can come from anywhere in our lineup. Today it was Riana's turn to get some key hits."

Cooper went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs in the opener, while Haley Butterfield took the circle and limited the Magicians to three hits over seven innings. The junior pitcher also had six strikeouts.

The Midgets scored a pair of runs in the third and seventh innings, while committing zero errors throughout the game.

Minot handed Dickinson one of its two losses during the regular season. The Midgets have a 17-2 overall record.

"It's been a lot of fun," Bill Butterfield said about winning 11 games in a row. "It's something the girls have worked really hard for and we're just taking it one game at a time."

In the nightcap, despite freshman pitcher Madison Jahner giving up five runs on nine hits, Dickinson's bats were waiting to build up run support.

Farnsworth ripped a home run and finished with five RBIs, while Hoffmann added four hits and four RBIs. Jess Priebe supplied a pair of hits and three RBIs.

The Midgets return to Dickinson's North Side to host Minot Ryan for their regular season finale at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, before starting the West Region Tournament on May 24 in Jamestown.

"We're always excited to play really good competition," Bill Butterfield said. "Minot Ryan is the No. 1 seed in WDA and we are going to be No. 2. It's always fun for the girls and we are excited to play a quality opponent."
