Dickinson State Athlete-of-the-Week - Cody Johnson

Cody Johnson, a junior on the Dickinson State football team, is 21-for-21 in extra point attempts this season. In the Blue Hawks 59-0 shutout over Presentation College on Saturday, Sept. 22, Johnson put away eight PATs, as well a 31-yard field goal.

Cody Johnson, a junior on the Dickinson State football team, is 21-for-21 in extra point attempts this season. In the Blue Hawks 59-0 shutout over Presentation College on Saturday, Sept. 22, Johnson put away eight PATs, as well a 31-yard field goal. He is now 2-for-4 on field goal attempts.

Additionally, with the team's punter out with a concussion, Johnson punted the ball away five times, averaging 28 yards per attempt.

His performance earned him the North Star Athletic Association special teams player-of-the-week.

DP: Where are you from and why did you choose DSU?

CJ: "I'm from Sydney, Mont., and I chose to come to DSU because it has wrestling and football, which I both love."

DP: How long have you been playing football and what is your favorite part?

CJ: "I've been playing football for as long as I can remember and kicking footballs is my favorite part."

DP: Do you participate in any other sports or clubs?

CJ: "I participate in wrestling, as well."

DP: Do you have any team or individual goals this season?

CJ: "My individual goal is to be All-Conference. As a team, I'd like us to win the conference and win a couple playoff games as well."

DP: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

CJ: "If I could only eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be peanut butter and jelly."

DP: Where is the best place to eat in town?

CJ: "Best place to eat in town is B-Dubs (Buffalo Wild Wings)."

DP: Who is your celebrity crush?

CJ: "My celebrity crush is Ryan Reynolds."

DP: What is the best show or movie you watched lately?

CJ: "The best show I watched lately is American Vandal."

DP: If you had a superpower, what would it be?

CJ: "If I had a superpower it would be to be able to sing like (teammate) Matthew Dey."

DP: Who or what is your biggest inspiration to succeed?

CJ: "My biggest inspiration to succeed is probably just my family, making them proud."
