Helping the Dickinson State women's track and field team to a second-place finish at the Dave Little Alumni Mile at Black Hills State in Spearfish, S.D., on Saturday, Jan. 26, Grace Edeen won the 400-meter dash.
The sophomore completed the race in a speedy time of one minute, 6.6 seconds.
DP: Where are you from and why did you choose Dickinson State?
GE: "I'm from Sheridan, Wyoming and I chose Dickinson State because it's close to home. I started off in North Carolina and that was way too far away. I got the opportunity to come here and run, so I took it and I love it."
DP: How long have you been running track and what do you most enjoy about it?

GE: "I have been running track since junior high and I love the team bonding and also the individual. You get a little bit of both, which is what I like about it."
DP: Do you do anything else on campus?
GE: "Nope, I'm pretty busy with (my) nursing (major) and track."
DP: The 400 is regarded as one of the tougher races. What is your approach to it?
GE: "Saturday, it was to get out fast. My coach, the previous week said to start out fast."
DP: Do you have any team goals for the rest of the indoor season?
GE: "Probably win conference and just improve."
DP: Do you have any individual goals?

GE: "Yes. I want to improve my time by a lot and just stay healthy."
DP: Where is the best place to eat in town?
GE: "El Somb."
DP: If you had to give up two of your senses, what would they be?
GE: "Probably, touch and ... hmmm, taste, no, smell! Touch and smell."
DP: If you could have a superpower what would it be?
GE: "I mean, for track be super fast."
DP: Country or Hip-hop?

GE: "A little bit of both."
DP: Coke or Pepsi?
GE: "Pepsi."
DP: What is the best movie or show you watched recently?
GE: "I'm on How I Met Your Mother right now, so probably that."
DP: Who do you think is going to win the superbowl?
GE: "I don't even know who's in it!"
DP: Patriots or Rams?
GE: "Umm, Rams."
