Dickinson State sophomore quarterback Hayden Gibson threw two touchdown passes of 25 and 24 yards in the Blue Hawk's 45-0 shutout of Waldorf University on Saturday, Oct. 14. Gibson completed 71 percent of his passes for 268 yards and threw no interceptions.
DP: Where are you from? And why did you choose to attend DSU?
HG: "I went to Bismarck High School in Bismarck, N.D. I chose DSU because I love the coaching staff and I love the facilities here and just the team atmosphere."
DP: How long have you been playing football and what is your favorite part of the sport?
HG: "I've been playing football since third grade. I've been throwing around the ball since I can remember. I love football because the team aspect of the game is unlike any other (sport). I really do believe the whole team has to come together and play together to win every game."

DP: What kind of goals do you have this year? What about team goals?
HG: "We want to make the playoffs. Right now we want to win conference."
DP: When you're away from sports, what do you like to do?
HG: "I like to hang out with my friends and family. I've got a little dog back home, her name is Boujee, so we hang out with her."
DP: What is your major and what are some of your favorite classes?
HG: "I'm majoring in physical education. My favorite class is football coaching and probably community health and elementary P.E."
DP: What do you hope to do after college?
HG: "Right now I'm probably looking to coach college football somewhere. Maybe teach high school level or maybe coach at a high school. I'm not really sure yet."

DP: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
HG: "I want to run really fast like Dash from the Incredibles, that would be my superpower."
DP: Who has been your biggest inspiration to succeed?
HG: "Probably my mom and my dad. My mom's super tough and really nice and really caring. My dad's a stern dude and has taught me a lot in life."
