Dickinson State men 30th, women 34th at NAIA Cross Country National Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Dickinson State men's and women's cross country teams placed 30th and 34th, respectively, at the NAIA national championships Saturday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Dickinson State men’s and women’s cross country teams placed 30th and 34th, respectively, at the NAIA national championships Saturday.
In the 35-team field featuring more than 300 runners, Dickinson State senior Jeffrey Segovia paced the Blue Hawks men with a time of 25 minutes, 56.9 seconds in the 8-kilometer race to finish 61st overall. On the women’s side, sophomore Austyn Copp led the DSU women by finishing the 5-kilometer race in 19:34.7.
Oklahoma City University’s men took the team title with a score of 78, aided by two top-10 finishers. With a team score of 98, Northwest Christian (Ore.) University’s women took the team title thanks to four finishers in the top 11.
Dickinson State junior Delano Lilly (26:59.1) finished 155th among the men, while senior Eddie Meneses (27:06.4) and sophomore Aidan Theard (27:09.1) finished 168th and 172nd, respectively. Freshman Tristen Guillot (27:09.9; 173rd) completed the scoring for the Blue Hawks’ men.
DSU junior Paola Silvestre placed 199th in the women’s race with a mark of 20:31.1. Freshmen Brittney Grove (20:34.0) and Amanda Wolff (20:41.5) placed 201st and 207th for the Blue Hawks, and junior Cristina Herrera (20:46.9) placed 211th.
Seniors Stormie Sickler (21:28.9) and Margaret Martinez (21:52.4) finished 232nd and 235th for the Blue Hawks but were not included in the team’s scoring. On the men’s side, junior Jonathan Aman (28:09.3) and sophomore Isaac Reiss (28:43.0) also finished outside the team’s top five and were not part of the scoring.
