Dickinson State softball goes 1-1 in Minnesota

ST. PAUL - The Dickinson State softball team traveled to Minnesota Thursday and came out victorious over Minnesota State-Moorhead winning 8-1 then lost to Bemidji (Minn.) State 2-0. Freshman pitcher Amanda Flores got the win on the mound for DSU in the first contest while batting 2 for 4 with an RBI from the plate.

Senior second baseman Alex Vargas hit a home run to left center field in the third inning to open up the game with a 1-0 lead. Vargas finished the game 3 for 4 with two runs and 3 RBI while junior outfielder McKenzie Kenobbie went 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Senior infielder Monique Yslas, junior outfielder Brianna Grayson, junior infielder McKenzie Bassett, freshman outfielder Shannen Donnelly and freshman outfielder Andrea Rodriguez all batted in one run for the Blue Hawks to assist in the victory.

DSU dropped its second game to BSU, as sophomore pitcher Alexzandria Watson was tagged with the loss from the mound, while Beavers’ pitcher Jessica Yost got the win tossing a complete game.  

The Blue Hawks will take on MSUM again today at 7 a.m. in St. Paul before taking on Viterbo at 9 a.m. at the St. Paul Dome.
