LA CROSSE, Wis. - Dickinson State’s women’s basketball team improved to 2-0 in North Star Athletic Association play Monday with a 72-31 win over Viterbo (Wis.) University.

DSU (14-4) junior Megan Klein scored 14 points to lead all players, and classmate MacKayla Feeney backed her up with 10. In all, 12 Blue Hawks entered the scoring column in the lopsided victory. Klein, on the day when she was named the NSAA Player of the Week for her performances last week, also brought down a game-high eight rebounds against Viterbo, helping the Blue Hawks win the battle on the boards 43-36.

Dickinson State led 10-3 after the first quarter and 26-12 at halftime, but the Blue Hawks exploded for 30 points in the third quarter alone to create all the breathing room they would need. The V-Hawks (2-14, 1-7 NSAA) never scored more than 13 points in any quarter, thanks primarily to shooting just 22 percent for the game.

The Blue Hawks shot 45.9 percent from the field and made 12 of 16 free throws.

Lorna Shepherd scored eight points and tallied five rebounds, three assists and a game-high four steals. Taylor Henningsgard added five points and a game-best five assists.
