BISMARCK - Dickinson Trinity’s girls basketball team fell into a shooting slump Saturday and couldn’t recover.
The No. 5-ranked Titans (8-2) lost 35-28 to Fargo Oak Grove at Shiloh Christian High School. Trinity shot just 23.3 percent for the game and missed all 11 of its 3-point attempts.
“It certainly wasn’t our day at the offensive end,” head coach Carter Fong said, “but Oak Grove deserves some credit. They neutralized our posts with their size and applied pressure to our guards. Every possession was a grind, and the shots didn’t fall.”
Seniors Alanna Sickler and Brianna Soehren scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, but only two other Titans scored. Madi Jahner tallied four points, and Sami Daniel added two.
The Grovers only shot 28.6 percent from the field themselves, but they hit a trio of 3-pointers and managed to force Trinity into 17 turnovers.

Shooting troubles on both sides made for a low-scoring game. No team put up more than eight points in a quarter until the second half.
Oak Grove led 7-3 after the opening quarter and led for the remainder of the game, though the Titans did get within 30-28 with under 2 minutes to play.
“Things didn’t go our way, but it certainly wasn’t a lack of effort on our part,” Fong said. “The heart of our Region 7 schedule is ahead of us, and we need to use this loss to refocus and improve.”
