MOTT - Although it wasn’t the easiest win, Dickinson Trinity head girls basketball coach Carter Fong said what was important was that his team won nonetheless.
Trinity jumped out to a 26-16 lead by halftime and cruised to a 51-39 Region 7 victory against Mott-Regent Tuesday.
“It wasn’t a thing of beauty, but it definitely was important,” Fong said. “Mott-Regent really battled tonight, but we pulled through. It was a very important win for us.”
The Titans are now 4-0 in Region 7, and three of those were on the road against “quality” opponents, Fong said.
Brianna Soehren led Trinity with 18 points, while Alanna Sickler added 17. Abby Jones also scored 11 with three 3-pointers.
Ellie Messmer’s 11 points led the Wildfire.
“Brianna had a big game for us,” Fong said. “She’s always solid on the defensive end, and she was due to break out on the offensive end and she provided us big minutes.”
Though only four players scored for Trinity, Fong said that wasn’t a testament to other girls’ contributions.
“We played eight or nine girls,” Fong said. “We applied a lot of full court pressure. We had some girls play very hard who didn’t score.”
Trinity’s next game comes against Kidder County at the Bismarck Civic Center at 5 p.m. Saturday.
