Lisa Townsend, a junior on the Dickinson State cross country team, was the top-finisher for the Blue Hawk women at the Minnesota State University - Moorhead Dragon Twilight race. Townsend completed the 5K in 19 minutes and 40 seconds on Friday, Sept. 7, earning 16th place.
DP: Where are you from and why did you choose DSU?
LT: "I'm from Douglas, Wyoming and I chose DSU for the teaching program and for running."
DP: How long have you been running and what is your favorite thing about it?
LT: "That's a tough one. When I was really little, my Dad used to take us out to go running with him. He's a marathoner, but we would run like 30 seconds and walk two minutes. That was when I was like, seven, then when I got to middle school I started competing in cross country and I've been running ever since."

DP: What are some team goals and some individual goals?
LT: "Our team goal is to get ranked nationally. That's the big one and of course, to win conference, but that'll come with getting ranked nationally, I think."
DP: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would you pick and why?
LT: "Triple chocolate meltdown from Applebees."
DP: What is the best place to eat in town?
LT: "Probably, El Som(brero).
DP: Who is your celebrity crush?
LT: "Let's go Ryan Gosling."

DP: What is the best show or movie you watched lately?
LT: "Parks and Rec."
DP: If you could have a super power, what would you choose?
LT: "The ability to fly."
DP: Instagram or Snapchat?
LT: "Instagram. Oh no, I don't know. Snapchat."
DP: Who or what is your biggest inspiration to succeed?
LT: "Probably, my Dad. Just cause he's done a lot of things in his life. He's successful, he's happy and he's a guy I look up to a lot."
