HAVRE, Mont. - Scoring 20 more points in the second half than it did in the first, the Dickinson State men’s basketball team defeated Montana State - Northern 76-66 on Sunday, Dec. 9. On Nov. 20, the Blue Hawks hosted the Lights and lost 71-57. This time, they redeemed themselves.
Although the home team led 39-28 at the half, the Blue Hawks (3-6) limited the Lights (6-4) to just 27 points in the second stanza while netting 48 points.
With 12 minutes and 50 seconds left to play, a 3-pointer from junior guard Kenny Jackson tied the game at 48. With 5:40 remaining, Melvin Collins put Dickinson State up 64-58, beginning a nine-point run that gave the Blue Hawks a definitive 69-58 advantage. Collins scored a game-high 21 points while pacing Dickinson State with five boards.
Sophomore guard Travon Hamilton contributed 16 points and five assists, while junior guards Donte Walker and Michael Vandall netted 13 and 12 points respectively.
Leading the Lights was junior guard Adam Huse, who put up 17 points, and sophomore Mascio McCadney who earned 15 points and a pair of steals.
