DSU men’s hoops loses to Great Falls

HELENA, Mont. -- Four players scored in double-figures for the Dickinson State men's basketball team on Saturday, but University of Great Falls (Mont.) got the best of the Blue Hawks 86-77.

HELENA, Mont. - Four players scored in double-figures for the Dickinson State men’s basketball team on Saturday, but University of Great Falls (Mont.) got the best of the Blue Hawks 86-77.

Dickinson State’s Jerry Shevlin led all players with 19 points on 7 of 10 shooting, and he was backed up by 15 points from Marcus White, 13 points from Terrell Butler and 10 points from Ryan Clark.

Five players scored in double-figures for the Argonauts (4-1), however. Davone Oliver Jr. led that group with 18.

The Blue Hawks trailed by just four points, 42-38, at halftime, but couldn’t make up that ground in the second half.

The Argonauts hit 9 of 22 shots from behind the 3-point line, and Dickinson State hit 6 of 20. The Blue Hawks also committed 15 turnovers in the loss.

Dickinson State (3-4) now returns home to face Yellowstone Christian (Mont.) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Scott Gymnasium. The Blue Hawks women’s basketball team will face the same opponent earlier that day, at 5 p.m. at Scott Gymnasium.
