DSU runners collect 3 more national qualifiers

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- The Dickinson State mens and womens track team added three new runners to its collection of national qualifiers at the Bobcat Open on Friday at Montana State University.

BOZEMAN, Mont. - The Dickinson State mens and womens track team added three new runners to its collection of national qualifiers at the Bobcat Open on Friday at Montana State University.
Senior Brittany Young became the second qualifier on the women’s side after finishing in third place in the 800-meter run. Young hit the A standard with her 2 minutes, 17.53 seconds time.
On the men’s side, senior Nathan Magstadt hit the A standard by winning the 60-meter high hurdles, running it in 8.21 seconds. Magstadt also placed second in the men’s 400-meter run at 49.59, missing the B standard by nine-hundredths of a second. Despite missing the qualifying time, Magstadt ran his lifetime best.
Senior Dustin Sandbak finished in fifth place overall in the 800-meter run, but met the A standard at 1:54.98. Teammate sophomore Dante Carter won the 800 at 1:52.69 and missed the school record by nine-hundredths of a second.
In the men’s 200-meter run, Breyan Miller took first place and ran his fastest time of the season at 21.77.
The regular indoor track season is over and the Blue Hawks have less than two weeks to prepare for nationals. The NAIA indoor national championships will take place March 6-8 in Geneva, Ohio.
