FARGO -- The Dickinson State wrestling team came out the exact opposite of how head coach Thadd O'Donnell hoped they would against an NCAA Division I opponent -- and the Blue Hawks paid the price.
North Dakota State picked up five pins and allowed the Blue Hawks just one victory as it came away with a 44-3 dual victory Sunday night at the Bison Sports Arena.
"They're a good team and I think we went in a little hesitant," O'Donnell said. "In wrestling, you can't be hesitant or you'll make them look really good."
DSU junior George Hargrove had the team's only victory, an 8-3 decision over Will Johnson at heavyweight. Hargrove bumped up from 197, where he is ranked No. 8 in the NAIA.
O'Donnell said there were other matches where the Blue Hawks failed to capitalize on chances.

At 174, NDSU's Tyler Wells beat Brady Burgess 3-1 with a takedown in the final seconds. Burgess transferred to DSU from NDSU in January.
At 184, NDSU's Kenny Moenkedick came back to take a 6-5 decision from Steven Urquizo.
"I think there was three or four matches we definitely competed in and had shots in," O'Donnell said. "If we'd have had a little more confidence in ourselves, we could have possibly come out on top in some of those."

Minnesota St. Moorhead 22, Dickinson State 13
MOORHEAD, Minn. -- DSU dropped its second dual in as many days Monday night.
The Blue Hawks fell to No. 19 NCAA Division II opponent Minnesota State Moorhead 22-13.
"Tonight, I thought we wrestled real well," O'Donnell said. "If you do not look at the score and just watch the match we controlled the tempo, and did much better than last night."

The Blue Hawks who are ranked No. 13 in the NAIA, picked up four match victories as Hargrove, Urquizo, Brady Burgess and Adam Orton all won.
Hargrove wrestled back at his usual weight of 197 pounds where he is ranked No. 8 in NAIA and beat Brain Woelfel by a 6-4 decision. Urquizo defeated Jacob McLean 9-3 at 184 and Burgess took down Trent Sovde 5-2 at 174.
Orton claimed a 13-3 major decision, at 141 over Connor MacGregor.
"They responded real well from last night," O'Donnell said. "We got what we wanted to out of this dual, even though you like to get a win."
