DSU volleyball splits weekend contests

After dropping the first set 25-21 to Presentation College, the Dickinson State volleyball team came back to win the next three by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-19, downing the Saints 3-1 on Friday, Oct. 5.

Senior outside hitter Kylie Hadley led the Blue Hawks offense with 15 kills, while junior outside hitter Ellie Hanser added 11 and junior middle blocker Kennedy Hildebrand contributed nine.

Hildebrand, along with junior middle blocker Kadara Marshall, led the team with four blocks.

Marshall also added seven kills and nine digs.

Senior defensive specialist Makenzie Digesualdo led on defense, putting up 29 digs and an ace. Freshman Jenna Swope posted a team-high two aces, while adding six digs.

Junior setter Keera Stookey led all players with 30 assists, followed by freshman setter Karlie Cleveland who added 25 assists.

Following the dominant win, the Blue Hawks traveled to Mayville on Saturday, where they fell in three straight sets.

The Comets (11-11, 2-5 NSAA) downed the Blue Hawks (4-15, 2-5 NSAA) 25-22, 25-23 and 25-21.

Sophomore middle Alyssa Wisher led Dickinson State with 10 kills and a block. Hadley and Marshall added nine kills each.

Once again, Stookey led with 21 assists, while Cleveland added 18. Senior defensive specialists Digesualdo and Alli Hert each contributed 14 digs.
