MADISON, S.D. - Through most of the Dickinson State women’s basketball teams matchup against Dakota State, the Blue Hawks kept pace. In the first quarter, the teams were notched at 24 points a piece and in the final frame, Dickinson State outscored Dakota State 17-14. However, the Trojans broke away in the second with a turning a tie game to a 45-36 lead at the half before winning the night 83-74 on Saturday, Jan. 5 at the DSU Memorial Fieldhouse.
Dickinson State (7-11, 0-3 NSAA) junior guard Ashlie Larson tallied a season-high 25 points to lead all players while senior forward Rojin Karahan and freshman forward Danielle Wallace followed with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Before fouling out, junior guard Celeste Pantoja led the Blue Hawks with seven rebounds.
Pacing the Trojans was Jessi Giles, who contributed 22 points on 4-11 shooting from three-point range.
Dakota State (2-13, 1-2 NSAA) outrebounded Dickinson State 51-36.
