Dickinson State’s Tommy Sease was runner-up after the first day of the North Star Athletic Association’s men’s decathlon with 3,009 points on Wednesday in Forest City, Iowa.
The sophomore from Bismarck was first in the high jump (1.8 meters, 627 points), shot put (10.83 meters, 536 points) and 400 meters (53.32 seconds, 668 points). He was second in the long jump (6.19 meters, 628 points) and third in the 100 meters (11.99 seconds, 653 points).
Sease was behind only Waldorf’s Caleb Gilbertson, who had 3,163 points with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500 meters left to go today. The rest of the conference meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. today.
