In the opening 17 seconds, the Fargo Davies girls hockey thought it scored a goal against Dickinson High.
When the call was overturned, the Eagles made sure to make every shot on goal count. Davies scored two goals in the first period and continued to cruise to a 5-1 statewide win over the Midgets on Saturday at West River Ice Center.
Fargo Davies had five different goal scorers in the game.
Ella Bachmeier - who also had an assist - put her team on the board first, followed by an unassisted goal from Kylie Schafer.
Madison Cogdill and Annika Mogck’s scored for Davies in the second period.
Paige Schweitzer put Dickinson on the board. She was assisted by Rachel Lantz.
Alyssa Glasner scored the final goal at the 3:17 mark in the third period.
Fargo Davies goalie Sydney Peterson made 13 saves while Dickinson goalie Kelsey Gillen stopped 28 shots.
The Midgets play their final game of the regular season at Sidney, Mont., at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
