Four Blue Hawks named in NSAA women’s preseason squad

Dickinson State led all North Star Athletic Association teams with four players named on Tuesday to the NSAA Women's Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team.

Dickinson State led all North Star Athletic Association teams with four players named on Tuesday to the NSAA Women’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Team.

Seniors Lorna Shepherd, Megan Klein, Taylor Henningsgard and junior Ashley Bentz-Laub were all honored.

Those four make help make up a core for the Blue Hawks that features 10 upperclassmen and only two underclassmen.

Earlier in the year, the Blue Hawks were slated to finish second behind Jamestown in the preseason coaches’ poll.

DSU men’s and women’s basketball opens its conference season this Friday on the road against Jamestown.

White gets the North Star nod for men’s team Dickinson State forward Marcus White is yet to play a game against a conference opponent, but Tuesday he was named to the NSAA Men’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference team. The junior, originally from Milwaukee, Wis., was the only Blue Hawk to make the team. Through nine games this season, his 16.3 points per game leads the team.

Bellevue (Neb.) led the way with three selections, while Dakota State (S.D.), Valley City State, Viterbo (Wis.) and Waldorf (Iowa) each had two.
