Golden Eagles rally for win over Blue Hawks

MILES CITY, Mont. - In its second day of play, the Dickinson State baseball team couldn’t close out a win.
University of Minnesota-Crookston put together a strong rally to defeat the Blue Hawks 10-4 on Saturday.
Once again the Blue Hawks scored early, but the Golden Eagles scored in the last five innings to finish them off and secure the win.
Eric Seiler hit a RBI double to bring in Dylan Skabo and Jacob Hignite in the bottom of the first inning, while designated hitter John Hollingsworth singled to deep right-center to drive in two RBI of his own.
Crookston scored at least one run in the third inning on. Third baseman Thomas Kinsella - who finished 1 for 5 with two runs and two RBI - hit game-tying two-run home run in the top of the fifth but the team wasn’t done scoring. The Golden Eagles hit three RBI singles to drive in five runs.
Both shortstop Ethan Mushitz and first baseman Ryan Haggstrom finished the game with three RBI and center fielder Dalton Parks went 1 for 3 with three runs, an RBI and walk.
Hignite led DSU with two runs and both Seiler and Hollingsworth were 2 for 4 with two RBI. Tony Roberts got the start for the Blue Hawks and lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up three runs on five hits and struck out four batters. Taylor Pogroszewski relieved Roberts and was credited with four runs on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings of work.
Crookston’s Jarad Nelson was credited with the win and had six hits, four wins and five strikeouts.
DSU concludes its series with Crookston in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. today.
