Cougars claim third place, Titans sixth in East-West Classic

MAPLETON — The Heart River boys golf team placed three individuals in the top ten, en route to a third-place finish in the East-West Classic from the Maple River Golf Course on Saturday, May 12.

The Cougars shot a two-day score of 647, 16 shots behind tournament winner Kindred. Oak Grove took the runner-up spot, just one shot off of the pace.

With a team score of 699, Beulah took fifth place while Dickinson Trinity and Western Morton County took seventh and ninth place, respectively.

Grovers eighth-grader Scott Boehning won the individual title after his two-round low score of 150, two shots better than freshman teammate Grayson Wetch.

Heart River senior Jayden Ewoniuk has the top score amongst local competitors, swinging to a 36-hole score of 156, earning fourth place. Senior teammate Trace Jacobson and junior Jett Mattson were knotted in a four-way tie for fifth place after shooting a mark of 160. Beulah senior Michael Schmidt was tied for ninth following his two-day score of 161.
