DHS’ Homiston shoots personal best in season opener

DUNSEITH — The Class A girls golf season got underway with the Turtle Mountain Invitational from the Garden Gate Golf Course on Friday, Aug. 10.

Fielding three golfers in the first event, the Dickinson High School girls golf team was led by freshman Lola Homiston, who shot a personal-best round of 100. Junior team captain Shelby Steier with a score of 111 while Midgets eighth-grader Hazel Emter followed with a mark of 125.

Bismarck Century took the invitational with a team score of 319, 16 strokes ahead of runner-up Mandan.

Century’s Leah Herbel and Hannah Herbel topped the individual leaderboard with scores of 73 and 74, respectively.
