SIOUX CITY, Iowa -- The Dickinson State baseball pitching and hitting are getting in sync.
The Blue Hawks nearly swept Morningside College (Iowa) on their most recent road trip.
"Pitching was very good today," DSU head coach Jason Watson said.
In the late game, DSU had a 2-1 lead heading into the sixth inning, but the Mustangs plated two to win 3-2.
The Blue Hawks pitcher Erik Bastio took the loss in game two after throwing six innings, allowing two earned runs and striking out three. DSU's Jake Coyle went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

"He pitched six very strong innings," Watson said. "It just kind of got away from him there at the end."
Jon Mendoza, Travis Setere, Derek Carley and Brock Murphy each tallied hits for the Blue Hawks.
In the first game, DSU's bats came alive scoring three runs in the second inning and five in the seventh. Blue Hawks won 8-4.
"We put up a five spot and put something together there," Watson said. "We took advantage of their errors."
C.J. Ketron took the win for DSU, while Mendoza went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
The Blue Hawks now face Briar Cliff (Iowa) in a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. in Sioux City, Iowa.
"I just tell the guys to play the game," Watson said.
