GENEVA, Ohio - The record-breaking indoor track and field season for Jess Herauf isn’t over.
The University of Minnesota redshirt junior, a Dickinson High School graduate, not only won the 2015 Big Ten indoor track and field pentathlon championship on Friday at the SPIRE Institute, but she also broke the Minnesota and Big Ten records in the event with 4,361 points.
Earlier this season on Jan. 30, Herauf set the Gophers’ pentathlon record with 4,289 points during the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse.
In her Big Ten championship performance, Herauf won the shot put, long jump and 800 meters. The winning shot put throw was 44 feet, ¾ inch, her long jump distance was 19-9 and the time in the 800 was 2 minutes, 14.36 seconds. Herauf also placed third on high jump with a height of 5-7¼ and fourth in the 60 hurdles in 8.67 seconds.
The Big Ten indoor track and field championships continue today.
