Hettinger-Scranton Night Hawks place first at Region 4 duals

KILLDEER -- Hettinger-Scranton's wrestling team went 2-0 in team duals Saturday to finish in first place in Region 4. The Night Hawks earned a bye in the first round and notched a 60-12 win over Watford City and a 51-21 victory over Beulah-Hazen....

KILLDEER - Hettinger-Scranton’s wrestling team went 2-0 in team duals Saturday to finish in first place in Region 4.
The Night Hawks earned a bye in the first round and notched a 60-12 win over Watford City and a 51-21 victory over Beulah-Hazen. Beulah-Hazen placed second, and Watford City rounded out the top three. Bowman County placed fourth, and Killdeer and New Salem-Almont tied for fifth.
Hettinger-Scranton senior Colbey Steeke, ranked No. 1 at 220 pounds, recorded an 8-4 decision over Watford City’s Jake Belland, who is ranked No. 2, and then earned a 15-0 technical fall over Beulah-Hazen’s Denzel Sanders to finish 2-0 Saturday. Eighth-grader Mason Defoe, freshman Braden Kline and junior Alec Andress all went 2-0 as well for Hettinger-Scranton.
Bowman County’s Jacoby Mattern picked up two falls for the Bulldogs at 106 pounds. Killdeer’s Zach Andersen recorded a fall and a major decision for the Cowboys at 138 pounds. Derek Tabor (170 pounds) and Dillan Jepson (182) each recorded two pins for Killdeer.
