Caleb Duffield, a sophomore on the Bowman County basketball team, was a consistent scorer for the Bulldogs as they went 2-1 to place second in the Roughrider Tournament which ended on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Knights of Columbus Activities Center.
Duffield netted a tournament-high 35 points in an 83-59 quarterfinals win over Richardton-Taylor and as the team defeated Glen Ullin-Hebron 69-61 in the semifinals, Duffield put up 11 points. In the first game, he hit five 3-pointers to bolster his total.
In the championship game, which Bowman County dropped 51-44 to Dickinson Trinity, Duffield paced the Bulldogs with 18 points.
DP: How do you stay consistent game-to-game scoring-wise?
CD: "I don't know, just keep your mind in the right place and play your heart out. That's what I do."

DP: How long have you been playing basketball?
CD: "I've been playing basketball since second grade, I think."
DP: Do you have any team goals for the season?
CD: "Make it to playoffs this year, hopefully (earn) a regional championship at least."
DP: Do you have any personal goals?
CD: "As of right now, just be the best that I can be."
DP: What else do you do around school and what other sports do you participate in?
CD: "I participate in basketball, track, football and baseball. But I'm done with baseball now since I'm too old."

DP: Who is your favorite athlete?
CD: "My favorite athlete is probably Kyrie Irving. He's super good."
DP: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?
CD: "If I could have one superpower, it would be to be invisible because that would be awesome."
DP: Basketball or any other sport?
CD: "Basketball."
DP: Snapchat or Instagram?
CD: "Probably Snapchat."

CD: "Uh, The Grinch."
DP: What is your earliest sports memory?
CD: "I think when I was in sixth grade I hit a half-court buzzer beater against I think, Hettinger-Scranton. That was pretty fun."
