SPEARFISH, S.D. -- Kristin Engle and Kayla Haines were big at the net and helped Black Hills State beat Dickinson State in the Dakota Athletic Conference opener for both teams.
Engle had 15 kills and six blocks while Haines had 12 kills and five blocks to lead the Yellow Jackets to a 25-20, 25-16, 25-27, 25-16 victory over the Blue Hawks (3-10, 0-1 DAC).
Micaela Parker led the way for DSU with 15 kills.
"We're cleaning up a few of our mistakes we usually make and our team played great," said DSU coach Ryan Platt, who added DSU lost a late lead in the first game.
Dickinson native Mandy Brumfield had 51 assists and an ace for BHSU.
