BISMARCK - Kindred held off a furious New Town fourth-quarter rally to claim a 62-59 win in the seventh-place game of the North Dakota Class B girls high school basketball tournament Saturday.
Kindred led 16-9, 32-19 and 48-32 at the quarter stops. But New Town outscored the Vikings 27-14 in the final quarter.
Brooke Graff had 20 points to lead Kindred. She was 4-of-6 on 3-point shots, giving her 10 treys for the state tournament. Kyla Bugner added 15 points for the Vikings. Kellie Schmit had a strong all-around performance with seven points and game highs of 10 rebounds and seven assists.
Taylor McGrady sparked New Town's late rally, as she had 12 of her team-high 20 points in the final eight minutes. Jaye Dawn Two Bears added 11 points and Mia Wilkinson scored 10 for the Eagles.
