Klein ties for third in Rapid City

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- Bringing just three golfers to the South Dakota Mines invitational, the Dickinson State men's golf team didn't register a team score. However, Blue Hawks sophomore Carter Klein finished tied for third with 151 strokes.

RAPID CITY, S.D. - Bringing just three golfers to the South Dakota Mines invitational, the Dickinson State men's golf team didn't register a team score. However, Blue Hawks sophomore Carter Klein finished tied for third with 151 strokes.

Sophomore Breilyn Riggin led the Dickinson State women's team, posting a 181 over two rounds, good for eighth place. The Blue Hawk women earned third place overall with a team score of 750, just six strokes better than host South Dakota School of Mines. Chadron State picked up the win as golfer Alpine Hickstein medaled with 166 strokes.

Behind Klein, freshmen Hunter Myran and Jeremiah Paine finished 17th and 18th with 170 and 171 strokes, respectively.

Not far behind Riggin, senior Riley Helmick took 10th. After posting a 95 in the first round, she trimmed six strokes in the next round, earning an 89 and a total of 184.

Sophomores Jace Steier and Natalee Hafer put up 190 and 195 strokes, placing 13th and 17th, respectively.

Senior Aimee Kittleson posted a 200, after swinging for 100 in each round, while freshman Abbey Aklestad had 208 strokes over two rounds, good for 23rd.
