Kovacs earns all-West Region

Meryl Kovacs led the West Region girls basketball conference during the regular season.
For her efforts, the 5-foot-9 Dickinson High senior forward was named all-West Region.
Kovacs finished with 15.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She finished in a tie for ninth with a 40 percent shooting from the field.
The Midgets ended the season with a 4-19 record. Minot and Bismarck Century each had four all-West Region players. The Patriots placed runner-up during the North Dakota Class A state girls basketball tournament.
Heckaman,  Pavek collect postseason honors
Andrew Heckaman and Matt Pavek helped the Dickinson High boys hockey to a 8-14 record and were named to the all-West Region team. Heckaman also received an all-state honor.
Pavek ended with a high-team 39 points - 23 goals and 16 assists - for the Midgets.
Heckaman finished with four goals and five assists. The starting defenseman was only charged with four penalties in 22 games.
