SOUTH HEART - Heart River senior Brittni Krance took medalist honors for the first time in her career Tuesday at the individual state qualifying meet at Pheasant Country Golf Course.
Krance shot an 85 to help the Cougars to a first-place team finish, and she qualified for the state meet with her score.
Heart River shot 364 as a team, 20 strokes ahead of second-place Beulah. Bowman County placed third with a score of 385.
Beulah’s Morgan Tomchuk also qualified for state by shooting an 86 and finishing in second place. Hazen’s Karlee Schmidt and Beth Leier both shot 88s, but Schmidt was granted third place via tiebreaker.
Heart River’s Katie Keator shot an 89 for fifth place, winning a tiebreaker over Bowman County’s Kaitlyn Hill, who also finished at 89.
Bayli Krance’s 92 and Laynee Kudrna’s 98 completed Heart River’s scoring.
The Cougars return to the course for Friday’s team regional in Hazen.
