GILLETTE, Wyo. - Lakken Bice, of Killdeer, turned in a time of 17.748 seconds in her first go of the barrel racing during Tuesday evening’s performance at the National High School Finals Rodeo.
Bice’s time placed her 11th in the performance and situated her 43rd overall through all performances through midday Wednesday. Results from Wednesday evening’s performance were not available at press time.
Bice makes her next go in the barrels Thursday morning, and she’ll compete again in the pole bending - where she is currently 66th overall - on Friday evening.
Dickinson’s Matteah Dworshak finished her first go in the pole bending in 21.543 seconds on Wednesday morning, finishing in 13th in the performance and placing her 72nd overall.
Gladstone’s Lacey Forsness was 14th in her first go of the goat tying Tuesday evening, finishing in 11.06 seconds. With that time, she sits 101st overall going into her second go on Thursday morning. Cara Hilzendeger, of Baldwin, took third in Wednesday morning’s goat tying in 8.09 seconds, placing her 23rd overall.
Carrington’s Bridger Anderson took second in the steer wrestling on Tuesday evening, finishing his run in 5.6 seconds, placing him 12th overall.
In the team roping, Clayton Backhaus, of Bismarck, and Seth Indergard, of Sidney, Mont., took fourth during Tuesday evening’s performance with a run of 9.78 seconds, which places them 27th overall.
Minot’s Seth Peterson was fifth in the tie down roping during Wednesday morning’s performance with a run of 12.19 seconds. He sits 20th overall.
