MANDAN -- The Dickinson High boys hockey team battled Mandan to overtime, but the Midgets got nipped by Tre Kautzman and Brady Zittleman one too many times.
The Braves needed 17 seconds in overtime to defeat Dickinson 5-4 in a West Region game on Thursday.
"We played well, but we can play better," Dickinson head coach Tom Folske said. "I think the kids know that. We are young team and we are learning how to win. These boys haven't had a lot of experience in winning, but it's coming."
Freshman Mike McChesney led the Midgets (4-2, 3-2 West) with two goals. Sophomores Matt Pavek and Kass Dvorak each added a goal. Mickey Folske and Jayden Mink each had one assist.
For the Braves (4-2, 4-1 West), Kautzman supplied three goals, while Zittleman added three assists.
