WATFORD CITY -- Hazen won the first Class B boys golf meet of the season, edging Stanley by a stroke.
Hazen senior Chad Marshall may have provided that edge, winning medalist honors over Shanley's Tanner Borud by one stroke. Marshall shot a 74 while Borud had a 75.
Dickinson Trinity finished fifth in the tournament. Lance Pender led the Titans with a 78, which landed him in a four-way tie for third place.
Trinity first-year coach Brock Cuskelly said the nervousness was obvious since few of the teams had much of a chance to work outside considering the weather this past month.
"It's really nice to see them out there playing on the course and doing exactly what they needed to work on," Cuskelly said.

"A lot of them needed to work on the short game, that's where they lost a lot of strokes. That comes with spending time out there and getting a feel for everything."
