MAYVILLE - On Jan. 21, the Dickinson State women’s basketball team kicked off North Star Athletic Association conference play with a big win over Mayville State.
The Comets got their revenge.
Mayville used its perimeter game and accuracy at the free-throw line to take a 76-69 win over DSU and split the series 1-1 on Saturday.
Andi Gayner led the Comets in most aspects of the game. She was 10 for 17 from the field, 14 for 17 at the free-throw line, collected 36 points and 11 rebounds. Jenna Lundon had 15 points. Mayville overall hit 10 3-pointers and went 24 for 29 at the free-throw line.
DSU’s Ashley Bentz, Megan Klein and Lorna Shepherd combined for 36 points and scored 15, 10 and 11, respectively. Klein also had a double-double with 10 rebounds. Jalyn Klauzer came off the bench with eight points and nine rebounds, Paitton Herbst supplied eight points and Hailee Farstveet added six.
DSU hosts its final two home games of the season next week and takes on Valley City State at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
