Middle-distance runners thrive at Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- As a handful of Dickinson State track and field athletes competed at the Ron Masanz Classic at Minnesota State - Moorhead on Saturday, April 27, middle-distance runners excelled.

MOORHEAD, Minn. - As a handful of Dickinson State track and field athletes competed at the Ron Masanz Classic at Minnesota State - Moorhead on Saturday, April 27, middle-distance runners excelled.

The men finished sixth overall with 33 points, while North Dakota won the meet with 130.5 points. The Blue Hawks women earned ninth with 25.5 points as North Dakota won with 276.66 points.

Sophomore Trace Jones took sixth in the 400, running the sprint in 50.47 seconds. Freshman Tymer Goss earned 11th and sophomore Tyler Burk placed 16th in the same event.

Freshman Daniel Ramirez ran the 800-meter in two minutes and 55 seconds, good for fifth.

Sophomore Hunter Flynn won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:59.84.


In the field, Caleb Petross finished sixth in the long jump, while sophomore Blade Miller earned sixth in the shot put and eighth in the discus.

In the women’s 400, sophomore Taylor Ludwig collected a third-place finish, running it in 58.89 seconds. Sophomore Grace Edeen followed in eighth with a time of 1:02.25.

Sophomore Bailey Smith and freshman Emily Kuehn respectively took fifth and sixth in the 800-meter run.

Junior Jade Derby cleared a height of 3.2 meters in the pole vault, taking sixth. Freshman Macradee Miller narrowly missed a top-10 finish in the shot put, throwing 12.12 meters to earn 12th. Freshman Tia Hallock took 12th in the javelin, hurling 29.64 meters.
