Midgets baseball loses twice at Bismarck High

BISMARCK - The Dickinson High baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at Bismarck High Friday, losing 4-2 and 7-1.

The Demons needed just one hit - and three Midgets errors - to do their damage in the first game. They scored a trio of runs in the second inning, and after Dickinson (24-8, 24-8 West Region) scored one in the top of the third, Bismarck added its fourth in the bottom half. Dickinson added another run in the fifth but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Benson Kramer had a hit and an RBI for the Midgets, Eli Jung added a double and Tanner Ouellette went 1 for 1 and scored a run. Mason Fode picked up the win for Bismarck after allowing just the two runs on three hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
In the second game, the Demons (24-8, 24-8) earned all their runs in the second and third frames again. They plated five runs in the second and tacked on two more in the third. In between, Dickinson added a run but was held at just one.
Greg Haataja went 1 for 2 in the game for Dickinson, and Treven Hopfauf pitched two scoreless innings at the end, allowing just one walk and two strikeouts.
