BISMARCK -- The Dickinson High boys track team tied for second place Tuesday at the Karlgaard Invitational held at the Bismarck Community Bowl.
The Midgets tied with Century and took second to Bismarck High despite having just one athlete win an event.
Nathan Magstadt won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 40.87 seconds.
Bryce Levorsen was second in the pole vault with a jump of 13 feet, 6 inches and Shivam Patel was second in the triple jump with a state-qualifying leap of 41-10.
The Dickinson girls finished fourth and had one winner, the 1,600 relay team of Messer, Brie Lynch, Leslie Beaudoin and Jess Herauf, who finished with a time of 4.12.01.

Messer took second in the 400 with a time of 1:01.71. Dakota Wolf was second in the 3,200 with a time of 11:53.83. Kara Froelich was the runner-up in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.10, just behind winner Katelyn Christensen of Williston, who ran a 16.99.
State qualifiers for the Dickinson girls include Messer, Wolf and Ally Hoffman in the 3,200 (12.03.11). Along with the 1,600 relay team, Dickinson's 800 relay qualified with a time of 1:50.98. Leslie Beaudoin is headed to state in the triple jump with a leap of 34-5¾.
On the boys side, Clark Weiser (41.62) joined Magstadt in qualifying in the 300 hurdles. Alex Wald had a leap of 13 feet in the pole vault to qualify alongside Levorsen.
Both the boys and girls team were with out one of their top runners according to co-head coach Jay Schobinger. The boys ran without senior sprinter Challis Williams and the girls were without Amity Lantz.
