GRAND FORKS - The Dickinson High gymnastics team took first place at the Grand Forks Invitational on Saturday with 143.475 points, besting five other teams.
Freshman Ayanna Fossum won the all-around with 37.275 points and junior Faith Beck was third in the all-around with 36.350 points.
“Faith Beck had a career-high in the all-around. She hit every event,” head coach Kent Van Ells said. “She just had a really good day and looked really good. We’re really happy with what she did.”
Fossum was first on the floor (9.700) and on the uneven bars (9.150), second on the vault (9.475) and third on the balance beam (8.950). Beck was sixth on the floor (9.200), fifth on the beam (8.850), third on the bars (8.950) and tied for third on the vault (9.350).
Sophomore Meghan Ackerman placed first on the vault (9.550) and placed seventh in the all-around (34.300).

Brinklyn Schumacher was sixth in the all-around with 34.525 points after finishing 10th on the floor (9.000), tied for 10th on the bars (8.175) and tied for third on the vault (9.350).
“We just looked a lot better everywhere (compared to Friday’s meet),” Van Ells said. “There’s work to be done on the beam, no doubt about it, but the performances were better.”
