Midgets place fifth in Mandan

MANDAN -- With an overall score of 33.5 points, the Dickinson High boys swimming and diving team took fifth place during the Mandan Pentathlon on Saturday, Dec. 28, from the Mandan Aquatics Center.

MANDAN - With an overall score of 33.5 points, the Dickinson High boys swimming and diving team took fifth place during the Mandan Pentathlon on Saturday, Dec. 28, from the Mandan Aquatics Center.

Minot won the event, topping the charts with a team score of 313 points. Bismarck Century placed second while host Mandan was third.

Nearly half of the Midgets’ points were collected by freshman Dawson Wilson, who posted the team’s best finish in the 1-meter dive. With a state-qualifying score of 283.60, Wilson was third in the event.

Fellow Midgets freshman Mason Beck tied for 20th in the 50-yard freestyle, completing the event with a state-qualifying time of 25.37 seconds. He was competed in the 100 freestyle, taking 25th with a time of 57.47.

Elsewhere, Dickinson senior co-captain Isaac Ellerkamp finished 20th in the 100 breaststroke, tied for 23rd in the 50 freestyle and was 30th in the 100 butterfly. Fellow co-captain Taven Wilson led the Midgets’ efforts in the 100 backstroke, placing 26th.
