MANDAN -- The Dickinson High boys golf team received consistent efforts from Tanner Halter, Chandler Pender and John O'Brien, but the Midgets couldn't move up in the standings on the first day of the East-West Classic on Friday at Prairie West Golf Course.
Dickinson shot a 341 as Tanner Halter carded an 82, Chandler Pender shot an 83 and John O'Brien an 84.
However, the Midgets are tied for 13th in the 15-team field.
Fargo South leads the pack with a 301 while Bismarck High is second with a 310.
"I'm pretty pleased with having some guys come in, in the low 80s," Dickinson coach Sara Berglund said. "We're just hoping we can put it all together and have four low scores."

Dickinson sophomore Jarl Abrahamson was the fourth score that was counted, coming in with a 92.
The second round gets under way at 8 a.m. today at Tom O'Leary Golf Course in Bismarck.
