BISMARCK - The good times continue to roll for the Dickinson High girls tennis team as the Midgets improved its West Region record to 4-0 following an 8-1 victory over Bismarck St. Mary’s on Tuesday, April 30, from the Capital Racquet & Fitness Center.
Dickinson junior No. 1 player Anna Stankova resumed her stellar debut season with the team. Remaining undefeated in singles play, she rolled by Saints sophomore Jenna Stiegelmeier in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.
Midgets senior co-captains Lauren Jorda and Alexa Cofer also collected singles victories in straight sets, as did eighth-grader Malayna Schneider and seventh-grader Valeria Bradley. The lone blemish on Dickinson’s day came after Bismarck St. Mary’s sophomore Lauren Hoesel squeaked by sophomore Emma Dazell in three sets, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
In doubles action, Dazell competed in another three-set match, teaming with Jorda en route to a 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 triumph over Saints junior Anna Braun and senior Maria Fleck.
On Thursday, Dickinson will face its biggest challenge of the season as it will host defending state champion Minot. The two teams did battle on April 12 in a non-conference match-up, as the Majettes came away with a 5-4 victory. The defeat is the Midgets’ only loss of the season.
