University of Minnesota athlete and Dickinson High graduate Jess Lehman (Herauf) was named the Big Ten Conference field athlete of the week, according to a Minnesota press release Thursday.
Lehman won the St. Scholastica (Minn.) Opener pentathlon with 4,242 points Dec. 4, which was 130 points away from a school record. The redshirt senior set personal bests and St. Scholastica facility records in the long jump with 19 feet, 10.75 inches and her overall points. Her shot put at 45 feet, 6.5 inches was also a personal best, as she won all five of her events. She also set facility records with her 5-08 high jump. Lehman ended the 60-meter run in 8.97 seconds and the 60-meter hurdles in 2:23.18.
Lehman currently sits first in the nation in the pentatholon, while her long jump and high jump at the event are fourth-best and tenth-best in the country, respectively.
This is the second time Lehman won the award in her career.
