On Monday, Dickinson High senior guard Aanen Moody, who was recently crowned as North Dakota's Mr. Basketball, was named the 2016-17 Gatorade North Dakota Player of the Year.
The award recognizes athletic excellence as well as high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character. Moody also earned the honor as a junior.
The Gatorade Player of the Year program annually recognizes one winner in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia that sanction high school football, girls volleyball, boys and girls cross country, boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer, baseball, softball and boys and girls track and field, along with one National Player of the Year in each sport.
Moody is just the third boys basketball player from Dickinson High to win the award, joining Tate Kick (2006-07) and Joe Hanstad (2008-09).
