BISMARCK -- Though she never won a state title, Mott-Regent senior Marah Friez has nothing to hang her head about after stepping off the track in her final Class B state track and field meet.
The senior ended her career by placing in every 100 and 200 meters since she was an eighth-grader.
Having the accomplishment of placing 10 times in those two events combined, Friez left the Bismarck Community Bowl on Saturday with a smile on her face.
"I've been here for a long time and (being able to place in the 100 and 200 since I was an eighth-grader) is a memory that I will always have," Friez said. "It's given me a lot of state experience and anything can happen at the state meet."
Friez earned a pair of fifth-place finishes, ending the 100 with a time of 12.69 seconds and finishing the 200 in 25.98. During her state meet career, Friez twice finished as runner-up in the 200.

She was more pleased with her performance in the 100.
"I feel like I did the best that I could do," Friez said. "We weren't able place higher in the relays, but either way we did fine."
Friez's teammates also had a solid championship day.
Junior Alyssa Olin placed runner-up in the javelin after a toss of 139 feet, 6 inches.
Her season-best toss was 2 inches short of a state title, which was won by Watford City senior McKayla Haugeberg.
"My goal coming into the state meet was just to get into the 130s and I knew McKayla had a really good chance of winning," Olin said. "After my first and second throws, I was pretty consistent and when I threw that 139 it was awesome."
Olin hopes her performance at the state meet is a stepping stone for what is to come next year.
"I'm looking to next season a lot," Olin said. "There are a lot of girls that are new to throwing (in Mott-Regent). Being able to watch them grow and have me growing as well is just a great experience."

Another multiple placer for the Wildfire was junior Abby Honeyman. She placed third in the 100 hurdles (15.67), sixth in the 300 hurdles (47.12) and helped the 800 relay take seventh (1:50.03) along with McKayla Roll, Olin and Friez
"Of course, I'm happy to be here," Honeyman said. "I knew I could have done better. It's kind of discouraging, but there is always next year."
Honeyman ran the fastest qualifying time during the 100 hurdles, but wasn't able to repeat her performance in the finals. She hopes not placing as well as she would have liked in the state meet pushes her during the summer to become faster in all of her events.
"I'm going to work my butt off," Honeyman said with a laugh. "It's going to be my last year and there's going to be a lot of motivation there."
Other top finishers on the girls side were Dickinson Trinity's Katelyn Grinsteinner, who took runner-up in the 800 at 2:21.19. Hettinger-Scranton's Cassie Holt took third in the triple jump (35-2½).
The Titans also had the relay teams of sophomore Maddie Hanson, senior McKenzie Kostelecky, sophomore Selina Kudrna and freshman Kennedy Keator take fourth in the 400 (51.38) and 800 (1:47.89) relays.
